Matured in a combination of Sherry and Bourbon casks, the 2005 vintage is aged 11 years and is available while stocks last. Rounded and full with emerging sweet, peaty smoke and spiced earthy fruit flavours, this limited edition will not disappoint!

AROMA
Butterscotch, toffee apples and honey are met with a hint of vanilla that binds these big sweet flavours together. The faint smoke of heather burning lingers in the background throughout. In time, chilli infused chocolate, lemon syrup and a very slight hint of smoked bacon emerge.

PALATE
A burst of candy floss and birch sap sweetness is complimented by a gentle touch of peat smoke which brings a rounded earthy note to the taste. Dark chocolate, winter spice and poached fruits leave a warming suggestion of Christmas pudding.

FINISH
Rounded and full. The combination of sweet and smoke is left to evolve on the palate with soft fruits continuing to play a role.

This special limited edition Cù Bòcan has been crafted by marrying refill Hogshead and refill Sherry butt matured whisky distilled on 2nd December 1988.

In their past lives, the casks were home to one of Islay’s peatiest potions and hints of the untamed spirit have been working their smoky magic over the years.  The final creation – earthy, oaky and sweet - is now ready to be devoured.

NOSE
Delicate campfire smoke and sweet ash give way to stewed pears, Peach Melba and toasted coconut. Hints of fresh cut grass, heather and cereal linger in the background with creamy buttermilk.

 

 

MOUTH
Candied tropical fruits are perfectly balanced with an earthy peat tang. In time, warming dried fruit, blood orange and a gentle nut note emerge.

FINISH
Earthy smoke and oak spice linger with a creamy texture.

Nose
You are initially hit with coconuts and cream with some botanic notes, parsley and coriander.  The smoke emerges after a minute, but only drifting past the nose.  A mesmeric mix of lime, grapefruit and tangerines with rich almond and aniseed.

Mouth
Initially feather light, followed by a honeyed smoke; toasted almonds.  The rich spice of cloves, cinnamon and star anise create an enigmatic elegance.  Imagine a café latte with fresh chocolate shavings.

Finish
Light with a hint of sweet smoke.

Nose
Hints of smoke, sweet paprika, dried fruits and treacle toffee alongside dominant wood, custard and malty notes.

Mouth
Rich and fruity, butter toffee and almonds. Dark chocolate, coffee, biscuit, roasted chestnuts.

Finish
Slowly warming with an incredible sweetness and the light smoke becoming drier in time.

Nose
Lively citrus fruits – lime juice and lemon sorbet. Oak driven flavours of vanilla, coconut and candy floss soon emerge with rosewater, red berries, fresh pear and pineapple in the background.

Mouth
Warm pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. Baked apples with cinnamon and toffee and just a touch of smoke.

Finish
Clean and zingy with pleasant spice.

BOURBON

This exclusive limited edition, launched in July 2015, showcases the influence that Bourbon Oak has on our lightly peated single malt. Rich and creamy with hints of smoke and sweet citrus.

Nose
Toffee and honey are prominent. The smoke is distant at first but continues to emerge and then slowly fades to reveal pineapple and pear drops. A rich and creamy vanilla custard lingers.

Mouth
Velvety smooth coconut and vanilla. Milk chocolate covered marshmallows, almonds and toffee. Citrus fruits, especially orange and lime, have a significant presence.

Finish
Long lasting and sweet.


LIMITED EDITION: 1989

Casks 37470, 37471 and 37472 had been lurking quietly in Warehouse 9 since a rare and unintentional production of peated whisky at Tomatin Distillery on 7th June 1989. 

This sweet and smoky rare edition of Cù Bòcan was released in April 2014.

Nose
The initial smoke is light, like distant burning kindling and has a heathery character which quickly gives way for fresh fruits – pear accompanied by citric lime zest and sweet pineapple. After time in the glass it becomes much sweeter with honey, vanilla, coconut and custard. Herbaceous notes of basil and rocket.

Mouth
The smoke and the floral heather notes are more prominent on the palate. Sweet abundance of fresh fruits; orange and grapefruit followed by blackberry and blueberry. Some ginger and clove spice is also hidden in the background.

Finish
Very smooth with a long lasting earthy, yet sweet smoke.
